Oakville House of Prayer


Meet the newest member of the House of Prayer in the Napa Valley. Bro. Joseph Mary Tran graduated back in May from the Mount Angel Seminary and is currently a transitional deacon. He will be ordained to the priesthood for the California-Arizona Province on January 29, 2022 at St. Therese Church in Alhambra.


The harvest season in Napa Valley is a time when the House of Prayer receives many requests from local wineries to bless their grapes. These harvest blessings are a great tradition that goes back as many as 50 years. The friars enjoy being part of these festivities of the wineries in which we bless God's creation.


The friars are grateful for your prayers and financial support over the many years, which allows them to continue in their ministry and keep the House of Prayer an oasis for people to come and encounter God. The House of Prayer…

My dear ones, In informing you that our dear Father Alzinir Francisco Debastiani has finished his service period in the OCDS and has returned to Brazil where he will be assigned to a convent in the north-east of his country, we give you the news of the nomination as new Delegate General for the OCDS of Father Ramiro Casale OCD of California-Arizona Province that will soon assume new responsibility.


We would like to thank Father Alzinir from the bottom of our heart for the dedication with which he followed us during these 10 years of his assignment demonstrating a great love for Carmelo and its Saints, but first of all a deep faith and nourished intimacy with the Lord, one love for the Virgin Mary.

Meet Our New Father General


Miguel of Mary Márquez Calle, O.C.D. was born in 1965 in Plasencia (Cáceres), Spain, and has held numerous positions of responsibility and leadership in the life of the Discalced Carmelite Provinces of Castilla and Ibérica.

In the Province of Castilla, Father Miguel served as a Provincial Councilor from 1999–2002, then as Vicar Provincial from 2002–2005, a position to which he was elected once again at the Provincial Chapter of 2008; next, he served as the Provincial Superior of the Castilian province. He also has served as a formator in that province, directing the students for six years in the community of Salamanca.


Father Márquez entered the Discalced Carmelite Order in 1983 and made his religious profession in 1985. He was ordained a priest in Medina del Campo in 1990. Father Márquez also has served as a professor of mysticism and Mariology in the CITeS University of Mysticism in Avila, as…
